Earlier this month, our BackPack Pals program reached a milepost that, if we are being honest, we wish we had not reached, but one we are glad we are able to.
Today we delivered 108 packs to schools in our community. In the 8+ years that Rent Party has been doing this, we have never exceeded 100 kids.
BackPack Pals provides a weekend's worth of nutritious food to kids identified as food-insecure by the social workers that we work with. Crossing this threshold is a sharp reminder that this program remains necessary, helping to bridge the gap between free/assisted lunch on Friday and free/assisted breakfast on Monday morning.
